Saudi Fast Food Chain, AlBaik expands to Pakistan
If you’ve ever traveled to Saudi Arabia, chances are you’ve heard of AlBaik—the fast-food chain that has won over millions with its crispy broast chicken. Now, after years of anticipation, the beloved brand is making its way to Pakistan, thanks to a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gas & Oil Pakistan Limited (GO). This move is part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to expand Saudi businesses worldwide.
What Makes AlBaik So Special?
Since its launch in 1974 in Jeddah, AlBaik has become a household name across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and other regions, operating over 120 outlets. Its delicious broast chicken and signature sauces have created a loyal fan base, especially among Pakistani expatriates and visitors. Now, with its entry into Pakistan’s fast-food scene, the excitement is at an all-time high!
Strengthening Pakistan-Saudi Business Ties.
AlBaik’s expansion isn’t just about great food—it’s also about strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Recently, businesses from both nations signed over $2 billion worth of agreements, witnessed by Prime Minister and Saudi Investment Minister. This investment push is a major step in boosting Pakistan’s economy, which is currently valued at $350 billion.
What’s in It for Pakistan?
At the Made in Pakistan Exhibition in Jeddah, Commerce Minister met with Saudi investors to discuss opportunities in energy, agriculture, IT, healthcare, infrastructure, and consumer goods. He also highlighted Pakistan’s 22% export growth to Saudi Arabia, which reached $700 million. With policies that favor investors—such as tax benefits and legal protections—Pakistan is quickly becoming a hotspot for Saudi businesses.
Saudi investors have shown particular interest in construction materials, textiles, and the food industry. To further strengthen ties, they have been invited to participate in TEXPO, Food-AG, and the Healthcare & Mineral Show.
Pakistan Is Making Business Easier.
To attract more investors, Pakistan has introduced business-friendly initiatives, including Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the National Compliance Centre, aimed at simplifying trade regulations. The Pakistan Investor Forum in Jeddah is also playing a key role in supporting new businesses entering the market.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia already share deep economic ties. Over the last five years, 1.7 million Pakistanis have traveled to Saudi Arabia, making it their top destination. Additionally, Saudi Arabia sent $7.4 billion in remittances to Pakistan last fiscal year. Now, with Pakistan’s Revised Visa Policy allowing GCC citizens to visit visa-free for up to 90 days, business travel is easier than ever.
AlBaik’s Arrival—A Game-Changer for Pakistan’s Fast-Food Scene.
With its first outlets expected to open in major cities, AlBaik is set to shake up Pakistan’s fast-food industry while creating thousands of jobs. This expansion reflects the growing economic bond between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, further strengthening the Pakistan-Saudi economic corridor.
For food lovers and business enthusiasts alike, AlBaik’s entry into Pakistan is a moment to celebrate. As Saudi investors continue to explore opportunities in Pakistan, this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Pakistani-Saudi trade relations.
