Fort Munro Steel Bridge Asia’s 2nd largest steel bridge.

Located in the heart of southern Punjab, the Fort Munro Steel Bridge is a marvel of modern engineering that has transformed the region’s infrastructure. This 33 km long steel bridge project, portion of N-70, connecting Multan to Kila Saifullah in Balochistan was funded by Japan. 8 steel bridges were installed to make the mountain road wide and safe for transport to Gwadar.

A Boost to CPEC.

The Fort Munro Steel Bridge is an integral part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate trade between Pakistan and China. The bridge has replaced the old road from Rahim Yar Khan to Fort Munro (Dera Ghazi Khan), providing a smoother and safer journey for travelers and cargo.

Rich History and Culture.

Fort Munro, named after Colonel George Monroe is a hill station located at an altitude of 6,470 feet (1970 m). The area is steeped in history, with the British constructing the hilly portion of Dera-Taftan Road in the late 19th century. The region is also home to the Balochi Tribe, with a joint memorial commemorating their unity with Pakistan.

Fort Munro is a popular tourist destination, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visitors can explore the historical landmarks, including the Deputy Commissioner’s House, Munro’s Hut, and the British Cemetery. The area is also known for its delicious Traditional Baloch Saji and warm hospitality.
