Nile University Graduate with 5.0 CGPA Emerges as Best Law School Graduate in Nigeria

A brilliant Nile University graduate, Oluwabusayo Ifolanja, has captured national attention after emerging as the best graduating student at the Nigerian Law School’s 2025 call-to-bar ceremony. His extraordinary academic journey, marked by a perfect 5.0 CGPA and over 18 academic awards, showcases the power of discipline, focus, and consistent effort.

From Scholarship to Law School Stardom

Oluwabusayo’s academic journey began at Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) in Ogun State, where he earned a fully-funded scholarship after excelling in scholarship assessments. His performance at NTIC was exceptional; he consistently topped his class and was named the Overall Best Student, winning accolades for academic excellence and behavior.

This outstanding record earned him a 100% scholarship to study Law at Nile University of Nigeria, where he graduated as the Valedictorian with a flawless 5.0 CGPA.

Why He Chose Law

In an interview with Legit.ng, Oluwabusayo shared that his passion for law was deeply rooted in admiration for the profession from childhood. He was drawn to the integrity, confidence, and poise of legal practitioners and knew early on that he wanted to pursue a career in law.

“Law has always struck me as a noble and impactful profession. I admired the confidence and respect legal practitioners commanded,” he said.

Crushing Challenges at Law School

Despite his academic excellence, Oluwabusayo faced tough challenges at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, especially during the Court Externship period. This phase demanded daily court attendance, which left him with minimal time for studying.

“I had to study late into the night, often sacrificing sleep for weeks. That was the most challenging period,” he recalled.

Still, his resilience paid off. He graduated from the Nigerian Law School with First Class Honours, emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student out of over 7,000 candidates; a remarkable achievement.

His Formula for Success

Oluwabusayo attributes his academic success not to any secret trick, but to discipline, consistency, and intentional strategies.

“There’s no magic. It’s about high mentality, discipline, and doing the work,” he explained.

He emphasized that anyone could achieve similar success by developing the right habits and maintaining a clear focus.

Future Plans: Law and Academia

Looking ahead, Oluwabusayo plans to blend legal practice with academia. His long-term dream is to become a Professor of Law while remaining actively involved in legal practice.

To support this ambition, he intends to pursue postgraduate studies at prestigious institutions like Harvard, Oxford, or Cambridge.

Beyond the Courtroom

Outside his legal pursuits, Oluwabusayo enjoys football, writing, volunteering, and watching movies. His story is not just about academic success, but also about balance, passion, and purpose.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Oluwabusayo’s journey from a scholarship student to Nigeria’s top law graduate serves as an inspiration for students across the country. His achievements prove that with the right mindset, hard work, and determination, greatness is possible, no matter your background.
